I've never shared my file, yet I received a request from someone to be added to it.
I received a request through Dropbox, to allow a complete stranger to access a file. ...a file I've never shared with anyone, and should only be visible to me. The file is a PNG and is something I named, which is less likely that someone could guess. Its not a complex named file, but too many coincidences. How is someone else able to see the file name, how are they allowed to even make requests for files that were never shared outside of my account? Not maybe .. but NEVER shared, so its not like someone could've sent a share link forward etc.. Given a recent FUBAR configuration problem from dropbox, where it was automatically creating sharelinks for files despite its configuration not to, and that I had to manually go in and delete several hundred links when I discovered the issue, its another concern of a security and privacy violation for a service that is paid to keep our stuff safe. Basic message received: ============= [email removed as per Community Guidelines] wants to access your file "xxxxxxx.png." Share this file with *** to let them view it.
What is happening to the Dropbox Send & Track feature?
I bought DropBox ONLY because it had the Send and Track feature. Am I correct in understanding, that: That it no longer functions and I should another service, open a separate account (both DropBox AND Send and track subscription) or what should I do? That I cannot find my old reports? Because no matter where I look, I cannot find anything on videos that I previously had connected to Send and Track. I am puzzled.Deleted folder and files are still accessible via shared link.
I shared a folder of files a two years ago. Today I found that i have deleted the folder and the underlying files. [shared link removed] However, the link still works, the files still show up in the download page, and files are still able to be downloaded. To be clear, the folder and files do not exist locally on disk nor on the original dropbox.com location. I physically deleted them. So they should not be accessible via the shared linked, yet they are. To clarify, I DO delete this folder with its contents via www.dropbox.com and it can'T now be found in my Deleted files page, but the shared link still works
How can I remove some users from the list of external collaborators?
I can gave access to some "Joe Random" to a file he needed to download. Fine. All good. 4 years later, the file is deleted, and his name still comes up on my list of external collaborators. There is zero reason for any Rando's to be listed here. There are 91 of them. There should be like 4-5 of them. How can I get rid of these names that no longer need access to files? Joe Rando and his 85 friends can go!
There is a Dropbox Transfer on my account that I didn't send
I got an email that I sent a file transfer. I did not create this transfer nor the file. I got an email that I had recieved a file transfer from me. Again I did not send. No one else has access to my account. I did a "security check" and changed my password just in case. I am concerned that it looks like someone used my account to create a transfer
