There is a real need for setting folder access restrictions within a shared parent folder. We have several folders shared across teams that occasionally requires specific subfolders to be limited to one team or select employees and there is not way to accomplish this without moving the subfolder to a completely separate parent folder, disrupting our workflows.21Views0likes2CommentsUnlinking device and deleting (clicking on trash icon) from list of unlinked devices.
I used Dropbox at a previous job in four different PCs. Once I left that job I remotely unlinked the devices that could access my Dropbox account. Its been now 5 years or so and I can still see the list of unlinked devices with "unkown" remote wipe status or "pending". It has not changed during all these years. I noticed that there is a trash icon next to these unlinked devices. I clicked on one of them and one of those unlinked devices disappeared from the list. See the picture below. *What does this mean? *Could that unlinked device still one day have access to my account? *Is it the same whether I hit the trash icon or not? *Should I hit the trash icon on the remaining devices? Another question: I noticed that the location of these unlinked devices has also changed, the PCs seem to move all over the country. So Dropbox knows their location, but doesnt know if the remote wipeout actually worked. How is this possible? Thank you598Views0likes5CommentsRemove the delete ability from external user(s)
PLEASE allow us to restrict the ability of external users to delete files and folders in a shared folder. I just ran into an issue where a user, that had edit permission, deleted all of the files and folders in a shared folder. Allow us to restrict the ability to delete by users. Or change the view permission to upload files and folders. This seems so easy to do, yet it doesn't happen. If I'm missing a setting, please enlighten me. Thank you.81Views0likes4CommentsA user can't verify their email address in order to share files from their account
Dear Support, I have a customer who is experiencing issues accessing the "Shared" folder in Dropbox. He is presented with a prompt that says "Confirm your email" along with a button labeled "Send confirmation email." After clicking the button, he receives an email with a "Verify your email" button. However, when he clicks this button, he is redirected back to the Dropbox homepage, and nothing has changed. If he navigates to the "Shared" section again, the same message, "Confirm your email," appears. Also when he trys to share a Dropbox file as link he is meet by the prompt "You cannot share until you have confirmed your email address." I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue.55Views0likes4CommentsI need to share a link with a specific user and make sure they can't download its contents.
I wish the Transfer feature had a way to send a viewable link that you can't download. I have some files that I need to send securely ASAP, but I by just sharing one file normally, I can limit downloads, but not the users able to access them. When I try to secure the link with the "Only People Invited" option, they still have download permission if they access through the email invitation. I tried Transfer, but you can't block downloads. It would be great if there was a way to have both: a limited access option where you grant specific people access, that also prevents downloads.Solved140Views0likes7CommentsI'd like to be able to change the permissions on all shared links at the same time.
import a feature that changes the permissions of all the shared links simultaneously I'm having a hard time changing the validity of each link, and it's really tiring. This feature would be a miracle for me, it would make things easier. I want all the links. Anyone with the link can watch the video, but unfortunately some links are team-only, and I have to change their validity for whoever has the link. I hope you make this feature available. I have thousands of links, and I have to change them all, and it's very tiring.121Views7likes5CommentsDescribe reason for admin signing in as a user
When an admin uses the "log in as user"/"sign in as user" feature in the web admin interface, a confirmation prompt appears warning the admin that all other admins will get notified by email. It would be nice if this confirmation prompt included a text entry box where the admin could describe the reason for signing in as a member, and if this reason was included in the email sent to other admins and in the audit logs. Use case: Our admins are regularly accessing the Dropbox account of a recently departed senior employee to look for certain files. Currently, the Dropbox admins manually send emails to the other admins to let them know the reason for the access.28Views0likes2CommentsI deleted a shared user, and tried to add them again, but got an error
I intended to share an external clients' folder with them. Somehow they were granted access to our full Dropbox as a team member. I removed/deleted them as a team member and I'm trying to share only their file and now I get an error saying, "One or more of these emails is no longer active." How can I resolve to share their folder with the same email?17Views0likes1CommentThe option to remove myself from a shared folder is not appearing.
Just like others have shared, the option to remove myself from a shared folder is not appearing. I needed to upload some large files to an organization's dropbox, which is owned by the organization. I am not the owner of any of the individual files or folders yet I still can't remove myself. I also am technically out of space so I can't add the last file I need to for this folder -_-... I am thinking if I can remove myself and then re-add it, I can add that last file and be done with it. I don't need access to it regularly, the whole point is transferring these files to this organization.47Views0likes8Comments
