Hello, most of the files I uploaded to a Dropbox account (around 2021) was done when my account was associated with an email that I no longer have access to. I do have a few files in a separate Dropbox account associated with my current, permanent email, but most are in the original account. I'm unable to log into the original account because it sends the code to the non-accessible email. It would be great to be able to link my original Dropbox account to either my current email address, and/or my cell phone number. Thank you for your assistance.26Views0likes2CommentsAllow us to use a passkey as a two-step verification method.
Please add the option for a passkey in security. Curiously Passkey showed in the Dash training video as an option for the screen shown in the video. Had a defective phone that kept me out of my 2FA accounts and never want to experience that again. With this week's huge data (May 2025) breach, I reluctantly enabled 2FA on Dropbox and carefully stored the backup codes. Still, I would feel much better if I could have the security and convenience of a passkey. Can AI work out how to color folders🙂 Did the Dash training and it is beyond amazing! A real game changer!!!!! Also, I never knew about the Drobox apps.54Views0likes1CommentUnlinking device and deleting (clicking on trash icon) from list of unlinked devices.
I used Dropbox at a previous job in four different PCs. Once I left that job I remotely unlinked the devices that could access my Dropbox account. Its been now 5 years or so and I can still see the list of unlinked devices with "unkown" remote wipe status or "pending". It has not changed during all these years. I noticed that there is a trash icon next to these unlinked devices. I clicked on one of them and one of those unlinked devices disappeared from the list. See the picture below. *What does this mean? *Could that unlinked device still one day have access to my account? *Is it the same whether I hit the trash icon or not? *Should I hit the trash icon on the remaining devices? Another question: I noticed that the location of these unlinked devices has also changed, the PCs seem to move all over the country. So Dropbox knows their location, but doesnt know if the remote wipeout actually worked. How is this possible? Thank you598Views0likes5CommentsHow to prevent signing in to Dropbox with Google
I guess I'm missing something fundamental but this to me seems to be an obvious security flaw. I have a paid up version of Dropbox. I want to be able to prevent Google ever signing into Dropbox in Windows. Doesn't matter what I've tried, the preventing of Google seems to be temporary and when I log out out and log back in it gives the choice of signing in with Google. Secondly I just want to be able to use a password with possible 2FA however that has been playing up in the last couple of days and it has an inability to Authenticate and I turn it off and it tells me I have to wait 24 hours to turn it back on again. I use VPN and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with my concerns. Can anybody PLEASE advise me on how to prevent my ability to signon with Google.48Views0likes1CommentHow to confirm US based servers?
I am US based small business, and I have a client who is requesting confirmation that their data will be stored on US based servers. One could imply from this post: Where is my Dropbox data stored? - Dropbox Help - that data is stored in the US, but it is no explicit. Does anyone know of somewhere on the website where it says "US based customers data is stored in the continental US"?32Views0likes1CommentMy Dropbox profile picture changed to my Google account's, after adding files from Google Drive.
I was logged into my Dropbox account misc...@gmail.com and used that "Upload from Drive" thing to grab some files from my other Google Drive account ish...@gmail.com. But then, out of nowhere, my Dropbox profile pic changed to the profile pic of that ish....gmail.com Google account! That's kinda strange, right? Especially since those are totally different email addresses. It feels kinda wrong that just grabbing files from a Google Drive would mess with my Dropbox profile pic. Imagine if I was pulling stuff from a friend's Drive – I definitely wouldn't want their picture on my Dropbox! \ Just wanted to flag this as something that seems a bit off and maybe not how it's supposed to work.20Views0likes1CommentNot receiving the verification email for my Dropbox account.
I just made a new dropbox account using my university email (not this account). I don't receive the verification email. I have added added no-reply@dropbox.com as a contact but I still don't get the email. I am writing this post from a different account because both the help-bot and this site requires the email to be verified.33Views0likes3Comments
