"There was an error downloading your file" when downloading from the site

Error message "There was an error downloading your file".

I am trying to download some pdf files from my Dropbox but am unable to get them to download.

I have tried two different browsers, but one produces the error message, and the other does nothing.

File sizes are 3 MD each. stored in the all files folder.

I can view them but am unable to download them to pass them along to a client who cannot use dropbox. (Contract constraints).

Thank you.

  • Hi Nancy,

Our IT guys have discovered the issue. The security division has blocked our ability to download from Dropbox for now. They are working to resolve the issue. Apologies.

Hi HOLCIM-M_Hamilton, thanks for messaging today!

Just to be 100% certain, are these files being downloaded from a shared link on the website, or directly from your own Dropbox account when you're logged in?

This will help me to assist further!

    Hi Jay,

I am logged into my own account. See screenshot below:

I am using chrome but have also tried edge. Have tried other files that have worked in the past as well with the same result. Haved used the website in this manner before. Unsure why it no longer works.

Our onsite IT system will not allow us to install the PC app on our PC's.

Hi from me too, HOLCIM-M_Hamilton. Out of curiosity, have you checked this from an incognito window, as well?

Hmm, I see. Let’s try something else then.

What I’d like you to do is clear your main browser’s cache, and check if there are any pending updates to be installed.

Also, please restore it to its default settings and disable any browser plugins. The issue you're experiencing may be the result of a security setting or a plugin that you have installed on your browser.
